From the publisher: "A timeless lampoon on human cowardice and the pack mentality, SLOGANS raises the essential question of whether man descends from the sheep rather than the monkey. This edition, starting from the original art, offers a reproduction much higher than the book published in haste in 1940, and enriches it considerably with a number of new drawings and material for a sequel which was never published. One finds in these vignettes the mastery of this brilliant designer, and the direction of the graphic formula which made him one of the fathers of the modern drawing. With his cartoons of some of the most famous literatury authors, Bofa invents a drawn equivalent of the aphorism, adapting his drawing to each idea and using each detail like a comment or an index." Our guide in this strange world is Karma, a loveable little imp who, with a considerable ingenuity and innocence, tries to reverse the course of events and re-establish justice in Outrelieu."

François Boucq. Jodorowsky, Alexandro. BOUNCER COFFRET, TOME 1 ET 2. [SN23097] $65 Paris: Humanoides , 2001-2002. 4to (11-13”), 112pp, color, pictorial boards. VF. Text in French. From the publisher: "A Western tale turned on its ear and filled with strange characters and situations that could only have originated from the mind of El Topo director, and Meta-Barons author, Alexandro Jodorowsky. Bouncer begins with young Seth's discovery of a skeleton and a pair of guns in a hidden cavern. Before he can discover the origin of these guns, Seth finds himself on the run after his parents are brutally slaughtered. Finding a protector in the form of the town's tough-as-nails one-armed Bouncer, Seth discovers that everything he is involved in is linked together through mysterious family ties. Seth and Bouncer set out to avenge the murder of Seth's family, but is there more going on here than simple revenge? "François Boucq received his 1998 Grand Award from the Angoulême comic-book festival. He is the artist of many comic-strips with, in particular, Face de Lune with Jodorowsky. He also created the character of Jerôme Moucherot, an intrepid insurance agent dressed in leopard-skin. He is master of the art of grotesque (and funny) criticism of all the ugly things on our small world. Bouncer is certainly his most somber work. These first two albums were translated into English, but failed here. No surprise as the tale and the details are really just too much for the mainstream American comic book audience. The opening rapes and killings by the band of ex-confederate soldiers are sickening stuff. However Seth's quest for revenge, Bouncer's story, and their bond are quite compelling. And Boucq's artwork is outstanding--like an updating of Jean Giraud's work on Blueberry.
François Boucq. Jodorowsky, Alexandro. BOUNCER, TOME 3 - LA JUSTICE DES SERPENTS. [SN23094X] $29 Paris: Humanoides , 2003. 4to (11-13"), 56pp, color, pictorial boards. VF. Text in French. Bouncer is wiry one-armed enforcer seated on a perch above the town's saloon. But he is also as tough-as-nails which serves him well as he usually sides with the oppressed. With Jodorowsky, you know you are in for some dark and perverse humanity. This second story arc (Tomes 3-5) finds Bouncer settling down with a lady love, but it's too good to last and soon Bouncer is retreating to an opium den.
François Boucq. Jodorowsky, Alexandro. BOUNCER, TOME 4 - LA VENGEANCE DU MANCHOT. [SN23095X] $29 Paris: Humanoides , 2005. 4to (11-13”), 56pp, color, pictorial boards. VF. This volume includes an extended siege on a frontier house by determined badmen. Text in French.
