A set of two phonebook-sized collections of this French newspaper strip which ran between September 1959 and December 1972. This continuity strip about the adventures of a young girl living in a Paris suburb was inspired by Stan Drake's The Heart of Juliet Jones. Gillon, the award-winning artist of numerous bande dessinee including the bestselling French SF series Les Naufragés du temps, used a sleek photo-realistic style for this contemporary strip. These two collections contain the entire 13-year run of the strip! (Four strips are printed per 8 x 10.5 inch page.) The second collection won the Grand Prize at Angouleme in 1982. These fragile volumes are quite scarce and much sought after. Text in French.

From the backcover:

This monograph is almost all artwork with just 20 pages of text: a preface and bibliography. 163 full color pages of art featuring over 200 individual pieces from Gruau's five decade career. This is the most comprehensive collection of his work and at a fraction of the price of any of his previous monographs (all out-of-print) which command hundreds of dollars. Text in French.

From Encyclopedia Britannica: "Italian-born graphic designer and illustrator (b. Feb. 4, 1909, Rimini, Italy-d. March 31, 2004, Rome, Italy), created stylish graphics and elegant, sophisticated ads for high-fashion houses and magazines. With his works that suggested an inspired melding of Japanese drawing and Toulouse-Lautrec posters, Gruau, who was self-taught, formed a bridge between the celebrated French poster tradition and modern advertising. His clients included couturiers such as Christian Dior, Givenchy, and Pierre Balmain, Vichy water, the Moulin Rouge nightclub, Air France, and Cinzano."
