This series about a young handsome swashbuckling buccaneer was serialized in the comics magazine Vaillant and illustrated by Gillon during the 1950s. It was laid out like Prince Valiant and Flash Gordon with text in the panels without word balloons.

This monograph is almost all artwork with just 20 pages of text: a preface and bibliography. 163 full color pages of art featuring over 200 individual pieces from Gruau's five decade career. This is the most comprehensive collection of his work and at a fraction of the price of any of his previous monographs (all out-of-print) which command hundreds of dollars. Text in French.
