Claire Wendling. DESK. [SN26577X] $20

Torrance: Stuart Ng Books, 2006. 1st. Sq 8vo, 64pp, monochrome, softcover wraps. VF.

A pure sketchbook: 64 pages of pencil drawings of imaginary monsters and real animals. Horned beasts, lions, horses, wolves, foxes, etc.

These drawings were created between 1996 and 1998. Most were drawn in Los Angeles during her off-hours from the WB studio. They have never been published in any other book. They do not appear in Iguana Bay 2.0 or Drawers 2.0. Redrawn versions of a few drawings appear in Drawers 2.0 pages 108-111.

In addition to the same production values and high quality reproduction of the French edition are several exclusives to this English-language edition: three previously unpublished drawings, an insightful biography featuring new quotes from the artist, a new Foreword by Mike Mignola, and tributes from other artists.

Claire Wendling. DRAWERS 2.0. [SN24044X] $60

Bordeaux: le Cycliste, 2005. Revised 2nd. 4to (11-13”), 144pp, over 650 color illustrations, hardcover pictorial boards. VF without dust-jacket as issued.

This is a revised and expanded edition of Drawers originally published in January 2001. With over 400 new images, this is an essential volume whether or not you have the original edition. This is the only career overview of this phenomenal artist covering her work in comic books, animation, film, and commercial illustration. Also well represented are her personal drawings not meant for publication. Most of the personal drawings that appeared in the original edition have been replaced with new versions by Claire (à la Iguana Bay 2.0). Very little, if any, overlap with Desk or Iguana Bay.

Claire Wendling. DRAWERS 1.0. [SN23644] $175

Bordeaux: le Cycliste, 2001. 1st. 4to (11-13"), 112pp, over 500 color illustrations, hardcover pictorial boards. VF.

This is the first edition of her career retrospective art book before it was substantially revised and re-issued as Drawers 2.0 in 2005. Many of the images in this edition do not appear in the revised edition. Most importantly, most of the pencil drawings in this edition were redrawn for the revised edition.

Brussels: Jour de Fete, 1994. 1st. Nine 30 cm x 40 cm (12" x 16") color plates in a trifold folder, VF plates in a NF folder.

Claire Wendling. IGUANA BAY 2.0 PRINT. [SN14463X] $25

Pau: Bachi-Bouzouk, 2003. 1st. 6" x 8 ¼" color print on cardstock. VF.

Limited to 150 numbered copies signed by the artist.

To commemorate the publication of Iguana Bay 2.0 and their gallery exhibition of the original art, Bachi-Bouzouk commissioned this piece from Wendling. This beautiful print of a tête-à-tête between a cheetah and a pretty girl is a distillation of Wendling's best qualities. Really charming and appealing.
