This French artist studied animation in school and was immediately hired by Disney's French studio. He animated on numerous feature films most notably animating Tarzan under Glen Keane's supervision. When Disney closed its French studio, Pierre transitioned into a successful career in comics. Two-thirds of this book is devoted to his popular continuing character Belladone. The remaining third features Little Nemo in Slumberland, Cowboys, and Pirates.

Amid's cartooning style is best described as part of the "ugly" school. Amid is also co-blogger of Cartoon Brew, the publisher of Animation Blast, and author of several animation books.

Some sketches, but primarily unpublished finished pieces. Terry's sense of humor is evident throughout in the pieces and his comments.

A collection of 44 cartoons about comic strip and book creators, mostly American and European, and really only for the initiated. The humor is very dry and droll: "Winsor McCay has a second helping of rarebit." "Bill Watterson refusing offers." I saw the originals on display at the Museum of Comic Art in Angouleme earlier this year and fell in love with them.

A great little book by this illustration & design team. This is a fancy robot catalogue and a springboard for imaginative design showcased in a nifty slick full-color production. Dave & Greg's description: "Palindrone Robot Supply is our newest outlet for robot designs. This 28 page book is packed full of 125 exclusively designed robots. If you like robots, this’ll be a fun one for you."
Ben Balistreri. SEAWEED, BOOK 1: THE CURE FOR MILDEW. [SN24137X] $30 np: privately printed, 2008. 1st. Folio (15 ½" x 12 ½"), 64pp, color and b&w, cloth spine, pictorial boards. VF. Signed by the artist with a drawing of Poisson. A beautifully illustrated graphic novel. Plus 24 pages of development, rough sketches, and notes on the making of the book. Ben is currently a storyboard artist at Dreamworks. Some of his past credits include being the character design supervisor for the 5th and 6th seasons of "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends", a storyboard artist and character designer at Nickelodeon on Danny Phantom, and a character designer at Disney TV. He's been nominated for five Annie Awards.

VF. Literally, "Sky Doll Pencils." We carried the French limited edition until it sold out and we are pleased to have located some copies of the nearly identical Italian limited edition. It reproduces the third and final Sky Dolls volume (with an alternate ending) in its pencil form: the lefthand pages reproduce the artist's loose pencil sketches and the righthand pages reproduce the finished pencil pages. The final ten pages of this version of Sky Doll 3 concludes the story arc rather than the final version’s "to be continued." A more satisfying ending, if I say so myself. Text in Italian.

Buchet is best known as the artist and co-creator of the bestselling series, Sillage. He also created a Wolverine graphic novel for the European market. Bernard Cosey. ECHO. [SN27890X] $95 Paris: Galerie Daniel Maghen , 2007. 1st. 4to (11-13"), 232pp, 700 color and b&w illustrations, cloth spine, pictorial boards. Cosey is an award-winning Swiss creator of bande dessinee. He entered the comics field in 1975 and has produced some 25 albums over three decades (Jonathan, In Search of Peter Pan, etc.). This is a thick collection of some 700 illustrations, watercolors, drawings and sketches wonderfully reproduced on thick watercolor paper to simulate an artist's sketchbook. The book consists of 9 chapters devoted to the important themes of Cosey's work: The Mountain ("From the Alps to the Himalayas"), Snow, Tibet, The Tibetans, The Near East and Far East, etc. Bibliography.
