Scott Morse. NOTES OVER YONDER. [SN24879X] $13 Emeryville: Red Window, 2008. 1st. Small 8vo (7.5-8"), 64pp, color, pictorial boards. VF. SIGNED and dated 2008 by the artist. "A Story in Two Parts." A novelette in pictures: 56 paintings tell twin tales of love and loss. Scott is the creator of many graphic novels including the Magic Pickle series for children and produces art books like The Ancient Book of Myth and War. He manages to do all this while simultaneously working in story and design at Pixar.

Tight commission-style pencil drawings of comic book superheroes & heroines. DC, Marvel, Image, etc. Jeffrey's worked in comics (Legionnaires, Gen 13, Star Trek Voyager) and currently works as a conceptual artist for a software company.

Justin is a young San Francisco-based animator-illustrator. This book collects a variety of works: cartoon versions of Watchmen and X-Men characters, comics, storyboards, backgrounds, faux poster art, figure studies, character and vehicle designs, etc.

An excellent full-color catalog of 89 original artworks by Bob Peak (1927-1992) ranging from movie posters (Rollerball, Apocalypse Now, The Black Stallion, Star Trek, Excalibur, etc.), TV Guide covers, magazine and advertising illustrations, sports and entertainment figures. Works in watercolor, gouache, acrylic, pastel, ink, and graphite, dating from the mid-1950s to the early 1990s.

Kilian Plunkett, Thang Le, Wayne Lo, and Jackson Sze. BATTLE MILK. [SN24347X] $30 np: privately printed, 2008. 1st. Oblong small 4to (9-11"), 81pp, color, wraps. VF. An art book from four talented artist/designers working together at Lucasfilm Animation on Clone Wars. Kilian Plunkett worked in comics before Lucasfilm. Wayne Lo worked at ILM. Thang Le and Jackson Sze are Art Center grads who worked in games, TV and movies. Kilian contributes a series of eye-catching finished illustrations/concepts. Wayne shows off his range with paintings and drawings of fantasy characters, location sketches from Italy, cute character designs, and even some lovely clothing sketches! Thang showcases his renderings of futuristic vehicles (land, sea, air) and environments. Jackson closes out the book with a portfolio of striking digital paintings of exotic realms and far flung planets.

Over half the book is finished pieces in pencil, ink, or wash; the remainder is looser pencils drawings and, yes, sketches.

Half the book is finished pieces in pencil, ink, or wash; the remainder is looser pencil drawings and sketches. Similar to the SDCC edition but the cover has been swapped with an interior image.

"Ten years of Cheesecake drawings 1997-2007." Chris Sanders' cheesecake has nothing on Bill's! There is a hint of Freddy Moore in Bill's girls which are all curves and good clean wholesome stuff. The book itself looks and feels like a million bucks with a great design and three-quarter cloth covers! Don't miss this one!
