He does comics in both the slick/realistic style and the animated style. His first artbook is full of femmes in all shapes, sizes and color. Chapters cover his comics and illustration work, private commissions, animation material, life-drawings, and an elaborate sketchbook section. Numerous finished paintings are accompanied by preliminary work, such as sketches, color roughs, and use of reference materials. In addition, there is a “how-to” segment, which shows a painting project from start to finish. Almost all of the works are scanned directly from the original artwork. Many are published for the first time. Artist in Motion shows Rude’s artistic processes in its entirety. Rude explains his techniques for the layman to better understand this contemporary master's artistic processes. He also provides comments on many of the projects, providing insight into each. A biography and exclusive interviews delve into Rude’s philosophy and approach to art.
